How To: Beef Jerky Bouquet & Valentine Napkin Fold

My husband is always a pain to shop for around Valentine’s Day. As I’ve mentioned before, he doesn’t like sweets very much. To make matters worse, right now he’s on a diet. I had to get very creative with his gift this year, and that’s when I stumbled upon beef jerky bouquets.

Have you heard of these? They’re amazing. Intricate flowers made out of various types of jerky. I saw a perfect bunch here but was shocked at the price. Jerky is expensive, I understand that, and bouquets take a lot of jerky, but I just couldn’t justify $70 plus for a Valentine’s treat.

Galentine’s Day Waffle Fries Bar

It’s February, and while for most that means Valentine’s Day is on the horizon, for me it means Galentine’s Day is coming!

Galentine’s Day is a celebration on February 13 where girls get together and wallow in their love for one another. I heard about it for the first time on “Parks and Recreation” and absolutely fell in love with the idea.

It’s that time of year again, friends, and if you thought that you could get this far into October without me going a bit overboard, then you have no idea who you are messing with! We are halfway through the most glorious time of the year (the 31 day celebration of Halloween), and it’s time to get some serious spook on.

This year, I’ve decided to take on Halloween from a hostess’ point of view, and I’m going to give you a couple of different suggestions on how to make the most of your scare-tastic celebrations. I’m calling this series Hosting Halloween, and it’ll have ideas on decorating schemes, drinks, activities, and of course, treats. So let’s get started with some brunch!

Independence Day Party Inspiration

Happy Fourth, y’all! For some reason, there’s nothing that gets my husband’s party bug more wound up than Independence Day. For the last several years, he’s invited over our friends, fired up the grill, and spent way too much money on fireworks. This year, we had an added bonus of a freshly installed fire pit (let me know if you all want to know how we built it!).

Since the Fourth of July is really a holiday made for the grill (an area that I have not mastered yet), I put all of my creative energies into the spread, the drinks and our outfits. I don’t have much to offer you this year, but I do have a couple of knock out party appetizers and drinks, plus some outfit inspiration to get you in the spirit!

The Ultimate ‘Psych’-Themed Bridal Shower (Or Party)

Have you ever been in charge of planning a bridal shower? It can get overwhelming pretty quickly, I hate to admit. I mean, just look at the concept of the theme. There are millions of bridal shower themes; storybook, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, fall-ing in love, kitchen-theme, shower-theme, lingerie-theme . . . It’s all a bit much! With all those options out there, it’s understandable that someone might struggle to narrow it down.

Not me, though. When my lovely MOH came to me and asked what theme I would like for my bridal shower, there was really only one answer I could give: “Psych.”

Tuna Niçoise Salad Sandwich

Nick-o-eyes. Nee-co-eese. Nye-soys.

When I first came across this recipe, I had no idea how to say it, let alone know how to make it. Tuna Niçoise salad has a hoity-toity reputation, definitely much fancier than its cousin, the plain-old tuna salad. It seemed like the more people corrected me–tuna Niçoise, not tuna salad–the less I wanted to taste it. But taste it I did, and oh man, is this sandwich worth all the hubbub.
