It’s September, which means it’s officially spooky season! To kick off the holiday right, I made a devil’s food cake with pistachio buttercream, decorated to look like a spilling cauldron of a suspicious potion.Continue reading “Spilled Potion Cake”
When a simple bowl of cereal isn’t enough to curb your Fruity Pebbles™ craving, you have to make this massive, wonderful, amazing cake.Continue reading “Fruity Pebbles™ Cake”
Anyone else have a new hobby to while away the hours during quarantine? I do! I’ve taken up gardening, and I say that modestly. I’ve got two little plant pots on my back deck, and I go back and forth between drowning and dehydrating them. But they’re still growing their hardest, and now I’ve got a nice hoard of jalapeños.Continue reading “Jalapeño & Cheddar Scones”
Nothing says summer to me like apple pie.
Not the most difficult recipe in the world, and to be honest, I don’t have any tips or tricks to go along with this bad boy. I just really wanted an apple pie, and figured you all might want easy access to a classic recipe.Continue reading “All-American Apple Pie”
Hello, my goblin friends! With my kitchen being under construction, it’s been very difficult for me to bake. This has taken quite the toll on my seasonal celebrating. Luckily, we finally hooked up my stove the other night. What recipe did I christen my new stove with, you ask?
I sort of cheated, actually. Hey, I still don’t have any countertops or sink! Instead of creating a new recipe, I revamped one from spooky seasons past. These crystal ball Halloween cupcakes are perfect for your next party, and this new version is even easier than the last.
Happy day after Easter, everybody! You know what I love more than holiday candy? Holiday candy on sale. The day after a holiday is the best day for hitting up those candy aisles, filling your cart to the brim, and inducing a sugar coma for less than $10. It’s awesome.
Easter candy is a little rough, though. Have you noticed it’s all the same things, over and over? Lots of plain chocolate shaped as different animals. Lots (and I mean lots) of jelly beans. And of course, marshmallows (a.k.a. Peeps). It gets a little boring, especially when trying to eat my entire weight’s worth.
Happy Halloween, my spooky friends! I hope you have a scary film playing in the background, Jack o’ Lanterns lit, because the hours are counting down until the Trick-or-Treaters come knocking on your door.
To finish off my Hosting Halloween series, I’ve put together a table that really gives me the heebie-jeebies. Nothing creeps me out more than a deep and dark forest. Haunted woods always make me think there is a coven of witches taking refuge in the dense, dead trees. EEK!Continue reading “Hosting Halloween: Witchy Treat Table”
It’s that time of year again, friends, and if you thought that you could get this far into October without me going a bit overboard, then you have no idea who you are messing with! We are halfway through the most glorious time of the year (the 31 day celebration of Halloween), and it’s time to get some serious spook on.
This year, I’ve decided to take on Halloween from a hostess’ point of view, and I’m going to give you a couple of different suggestions on how to make the most of your scare-tastic celebrations. I’m calling this series Hosting Halloween, and it’ll have ideas on decorating schemes, drinks, activities, and of course, treats. So let’s get started with some brunch!Continue reading “Hosting Halloween: Halloween Brunch”
How stinking cute are these pinwheel cookies? I know pinwheel cookies aren’t new, but you won’t believe how not-new they really are.
I found this recipe while trolling through a 1980s edition of Southern Living cookbook! And Pinterest thought it had found something innovative.Continue reading “Chocolate Teaser Cookies”
Guten Tag! We’re in the heart of Oktoberfest, and Oktoberfest is always in my heart. Ever since my husband and I visited Germany, I’ve been obsessed.
For those who don’t know, Oktoberfest is a festival in Munich that originally started as a wedding celebration forBavarian Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese. And since my wedding anniversary falls in the middle of Oktoberfest, we’ve taken a shine to celebrating it at home.
