My husband has a serious Oreo addiction. We’re talking a pack a week here, if I let him. And I get it! There’s something seriously addictive about those little chocolate sandwich cookies. We’d run out of our third package when I started wondering if I couldn’t make some myself.Continue reading “Chocolate Sandwich Cookies”
How stinking cute are these pinwheel cookies? I know pinwheel cookies aren’t new, but you won’t believe how not-new they really are.
I found this recipe while trolling through a 1980s edition of Southern Living cookbook! And Pinterest thought it had found something innovative.Continue reading “Chocolate Teaser Cookies”
My family has what I call birthday bunches–all of our birthdays come in pairs. This is pretty common when you have a large family, but my family isn’t that large. On my husband’s side, it’s just him and his parents, but all their birthdays happen in the same week! Everyone in my family has a birthday buddy, everyone that is, except my sister.
When the first birthday bunch rolled around last month for my mom and dad, I went ahead and asked my sister what she wanted her cake to be. Last year, the cake I made her was pretty awesome, in my humble opinion. I had my expectations high for what she would ask, anticipating fondant and colors and layers–the works! Forgive me for being gone so long, but inspiration has been a slippery beast these last few weeks. I’ve been baking, friend, believe you me! But none of the new recipes I was working on were coming out right. None of them were good enough for the blog.

So what makes my Cheater, Cheater recipe so great? This bad boy is bakery quality–I’m talking moist, soft, packed crumb paired with a smooth, light, palate-pleasing frosting that has an unmistakeable yet non-overwhelming peanut butter flavor. To put it simply, this cake is a God-send.Continue reading “Cheater, Cheater Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter Frosting”
Christmas may be over, but in Kentucky, the winter months haven’t even started yet!
Today, it’s a nice 60 degrees, one of the colder days so far this month, and it’s raining cats and dogs. So while it may not be cold enough for hot chocolate, it sure is dreary enough!
If we’re being honest, there is no reason to manipulate a brownie recipe. Brownies are quite possibly the best things to happen to baking since cherry pies.
This recipe came about one night when I wanted brownies real bad and nearly ruined the recipe. Now I know where the recipe went wrong, but in the moment, I was not going to argue with these delicious brownie sandwiches!
What could be more appropriate for my first post than my favorite cupcake recipe: Devil’s Food Cake?
I make this cake recipe every Halloween because the dark, deep flavor of the chocolate cake isn’t so sweet that you can’t handle all of the other tasty things that people are trying to get you to eat. Not to mention the name. I mean, am I right?
